Checking the USB version

To check what USB version does your computer has,just follow these steps.

1]Open the Windows Control Panel then click on System Icon

Changing Windows XP Home to Windows XP Pro

1. Copy the root directory and the i386 directory of the WindowsXP CD
to your harddisk
2. Extract the Bootsector of your WindowsXP CD
3. Change 2 Bytes in i386\Setupreg.hiv :
a) Open Regedit
b) Highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
c) Menu: File -> Load Structure -> i386\Setupreg.hiv
d) Assign an arbitrary name to the imported structure e.g. "Homekey"
e) Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Homekey\ControlSet001\Services\setupdd
f) edit the binary key "default" and change "01" to "00" and "02" to
"00"
g) Highlight "Homekey" and select menu: File -> unload structure
4. Burn your new XP Pro CD
5. Install WindowsXP as usual. Your XP Home Key will work.

Tracing the email sender [Yahoo]

In this post,I want to teach you how to trace the email sender.
In your mail,click the full header link in bottom right.



Then,look at the X-Originating-IP.
Go to http://www.arin.net/whois/
Paste the Ip adress in the query box.Click the Search Whois button.And you will get the sender's information.Note that the sender may spoof the indentitiy,making it's hard to get the real information.

A list of IP address with hostname will be displayed.
You can also specify the port you want to scan.

Transferring font to another computer

To transfer the font,you need to know what's the font's name.
Then Open Run>fonts

A list of fonts will be displayed.



Just select the font you want to copy and press CTRL + C

Paste it in a diskette or USB drive.Then copy it back to fonts folder.

P/S:You need admin privilege to install font.

Clearing yahoo toolbar search history

Simply,

Burning ISO file using Nero

First open Nero.Choose Copy and backup|Burn Image to Disk



Then select the ISO file.Note that Winrar may signed ISO file as an archive.



I used slax as the example.


Lastly,burn your file to disk.I often choose the write speed as 4X.
The slower,the lower chances of corrupting the file.



Note that some software ,Winrar for example,might recognize ISO file as an archive.DO NOT extract the file.

MSpaint cannot save as JPEG

Cause:
You may not see these two filters listed if you have not started Microsoft Photo Editor, or if you have not opened any files of these types in Paint.


Solution:
To see these two filters in the Paint Save as type list, follow these steps. If you have not installed the necessary graphics filters, first follow these steps:

Start Office Setup.

Click Add or Remove Features.

In the Microsoft Office 2000: Update Features dialog box, click the plus sign (+) next to Converters and Filters.

Click the list next to Graphics Filters , and then click to select Run all from My Computer.

Click Update Now.

Start and then quit Photo Editor.

Start Paint.
